A community “pulse check” on how AI and automation are reshaping industrial work alongside the latest independent research on the same questions. This is the second annual research effort from the Siemens Xcelerator Community, following last year's study of generative AI adoption. This year's edition shifts the lens to the human and organizational side of that transformation.

The World Economic Forum’s Top 10 Emerging Technologies of 2026 points to a future shaped by technologies that are more personal, distributed and materially efficient. From mRNA cancer vaccines and exosome drug delivery to everything-to-grid energy, precision fermentation, world models and quantum-safe cryptography, the report highlights systems moving from scientific promise toward practical consequence. The central challenge is whether institutions can build the trust, access, regulation and infrastructure needed for these technologies to scale well.

Changeist's Scott Smith and Susan Cox-Smith convened twenty futurists to build the 10F Consortium, ten open, modular forecasts on the forces reshaping the coming decade. Their central finding is that the single rulebook the world once shared has split into several that no longer reconcile, turning forces once treated as background, migration, energy, technology sovereignty, into design constraints for anyone who builds. The work argues that foresight remains human work, since a machine can read the past with perfect clarity but there are no facts about the future.
